Working as a copy/design team with Glenn made new and ongoing projects more enticing.

I’m sure everyone has seen the resurgence of interest in 3D. Hollywood is pumping out 3D films at a fairly mean clip. Electronics companies are making 3D TVs. And augmented reality applications such as the FLARToolKit and Layar are bringing three-dimensional imagery to the Internet. But you haven’t seen anything yet. Trust me.

The London-based company, Dimensional Studios Ltd., has solved the age-old puzzle of how to create 3D imagery without the glasses. Their video projection system, the Musion Eyeliner System, turns video footage into holographic footage.

According to Dimensional Studios, the Eyeliner System uses a DLP video projector, an HD hard-disc player, “Musion Eyeliner Foil + 3D set/drapes enclosing 3 sides,” lighting and audio, and a show controller.

If Dimensional Studios’ projection system is integrated into home PCs and laptops, the possibilities for Internet marketing companies and Webmasters will be endless. When a Web user hovers a mouse over a banner ad, the projection unit could be triggered, piping holographic promotional imagery into the home of the user. Wow!

There’s a little-known method that Webmasters can use to increase the conversion rate for their subscription sites. It doesn’t involve using video tours. It doesn’t even involve using faster loading pages.

The method I’m referring to is a tour on how to place an order. This tour shows consumers how to fill out your order form, how to input their credit card information, how to choose a username and password, and how to get help if needed.

Showing screenshots of the order process is a great way to assuage the fears of your prospective customers. They’ll feel more secure if they know that they can complete the order process successfully. Believe it or not, people are often intimated by this process. They wonder if something will go wrong.

So, help your customers with this simple tour. The result will be more revenue for you.

Understanding how groups of people interact with each other and disseminate information to each other is the key to leveraging the power of social media marketing.

On social networks, people often interact with each other to share ideas about how to solve problems. If your particular product or service happens to provide a solution to an ongoing problem, that will give you an opening for mentioning it.

When you think about it, the Internet is a problem-solving tool. When Web users type search queries into the major portals like Google and Yahoo, they’re invariably looking for a solution to a problem. Why? Because life is conflict. Conflict is what ties all information together and makes it relevant.

If you own an online store or subscription site, you probably run pay-per-click ad campaigns. Whether you use Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, or another PPC network, it’s an everyday battle to get a positive return on investment in such a tight economy.

In order to avoid bidding wars and reach interested consumers, you must boost the relevance of your ads and landing pages. How can you do so? Solve a problem for consumers.

I’m sure you’re asking yourself how a Web site can solve a problem. Well, psychologically, the average consumer moves toward pleasure as a way to avoid pain. These days, the number one source of pain involves either fear of losing a job or fear of not being able to get another one.

You must offer consumers an escape from that pain. In fact, you must tell them directly that your site will help them forget their troubles. During the Great Depression, people flocked to movie theaters to escape the despair of the 1930s.

The ad copy in your PPC ads must define your site as an escape, a fantasy world. Your landing page must, too. This will help you garner more interest from consumers and find lower-priced keywords.

This Copyright License Agreement (the “Agreement”) is entered into as of the date on which the Artwork is purchased (the “Effective Date”) by and between High Concept Media, LLC (the “Licensor”), and the customer (the “Licensee,” and together with Licensor, each a “Party” and collectively the “Parties”).

RECITALS

WHEREAS, the Licensor owns all rights in and to the Artwork and retains all rights to the Artwork that are not transferred herein, and retains all common law copyrights and all federal copyrights that have been, or that may be granted by the Library of Congress; and

WHEREAS, the Licensor has the [exclusive] right to license others to produce, copy, make, or sell the Artwork;

WHEREAS, the Licensee wants to obtain, and the Licensor has agreed to grant, a license authorizing the use of the Artwork [in the preparation of one or more Collective Works and/or Derivative Works (as defined below)] by the Licensee subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement; and

WHEREAS, each Party is duly authorized and capable of entering into this Agreement.

NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the above recitals and the mutual promises and benefits contained herein, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the Parties hereby agree as follows:

1.    GRANT OF LICENSE.

Effective as of the Effective Date and subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Licensor hereby grants to the Licensee, and the Licensee hereby accepts, a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to exercise the rights in the Artwork, in any and all media (including but not limited to electronic, print, video, and any other technology now known or that may be developed in the future), as follows:

(a)    to publish the Artwork, to reproduce the Artwork, to incorporate the Artwork into one or more Collective Works (as defined below), and to reproduce the Artwork as incorporated in the Collective Works. “Collective Works” shall mean any work, including periodical issues, anthologies, or encyclopedias, in which the entire unmodified Artwork is assembled with other contributions, each constituting separate and independent works in themselves, into a collective whole;

(b)    to create and reproduce Derivative Works. “Derivative Works” shall mean any work based on the Artwork, or on the Artwork and other preexisting works, including motion picture versions, art reproductions, condensations, or any other form in which the Artwork may be recast, transformed, or adapted; provided, however, that a work constituting a Collective Work shall not be considered a Derivative Work under this Agreement;

(c) to distribute copies of, display publicly, or use in any advertising the Artwork (including as incorporated in Collective Works); and

(d) to distribute copies of, display publicly, perform publicly, or use in any advertising any Derivative Works.

The Licensee shall make no other use of the Artwork.

2.    NO ASSIGNMENT OR TRANSFER.

The Licensee hereby acknowledges and agrees that the rights granted to the Licensee by and obtained by the Licensee as a result of or in connection with this Agreement are license rights only and that nothing contained in this Agreement constitutes or shall be construed to be an assignment or exclusive license of any or all of the Licensor’s rights in the Artwork. The Licensor retains ownership of the copyright in the Artwork, and all rights not expressly granted in this Agreement.

6. OWNERSHIP AND USE OF ARTWORK.

(a) Ownership of Artwork. The Licensee hereby acknowledges that the Licensor is the owner of the Artwork and of all associated federal registrations and pending registrations, and the Licensee shall do nothing inconsistent with such ownership. The Licensee further agrees that it will not claim ownership rights to the Artwork, or any derivative, compilation, sequel or series, or related work owned by or used by the Licensor. The Licensee agrees that nothing in this Agreement shall give the Licensee any right, title, or interest in the Artwork other than the right to use the same in accordance with this Agreement.

(b) Validity of Registrations. The Licensee hereby admits the validity of all copyrights for the Artwork and all associated registrations and acknowledges that any and all rights that might be acquired by the Licensee because of its use of the Artwork shall inure to the sole benefit of the Licensor; provided, however, that this subsection (b) shall not entitle the Licensor to all or any portion of the profits or revenues from the Licensee’s permitted uses hereunder, except for the fees described in Section 4 above.
